1. Your first preference should always be the 7 old IITs.
2. BITS Pilani - It is not so that it is not as good as some old IITs, rather it has placements and campus life better than many of the old IITs but it is just about the IITian tag and the mindset of Indian people. By the way BITSian tag would be more helpful for higher education abroad. But IITian tag will surely impress everyone you meet in India in your whole lifetime.
3. IIIT Hydrebad - You have to study a lot here.
4. NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, NIT Allahabad, BITS Goa, BITS Hydrebad - All of this colleges are at same level but your choice depends on your expectation. If you are from North part of India, never ever join the first three NITs or you would kill yourself between people speaking Alien languages. Don't take me as a racist but these are the experiences of most of the students. If you want an awesome college life with a decent placement then your first choice in this list should surely be BITS Goa because that college is Legendary.
5. New IITs ( Best out of them is IIT Ropar and IIT Hydrebad ) , DTU, NSIT Delhi
6. MNIT Jaipur, DAIICT (It does not have a CS branch but a combination of CS and ECE branch), PEC Punjab, VNIT Nagpur ( MNIT Jaipur and DAIICT are better than VNIT Nagpur )
7. MANIT Bhopal, NIT Delhi and some other NITs , Thapar, IIIT Delhi and IIIT Allahabad ( they offer degree in IT)
8. Crap Institutes like SRM, VIT
If you do not get a college mentioned until 6 , you can always go for a good State College which from this year you will get through JEE Main.
Even if not these you always have a choice for Lovely Professional University lol .
